About Speech & Language Therapy
Whatever your medical condition or your reason for seeking help, the overall way I work will be broadly the same. My initial visit to you will be a kind of introductory conversation, to help you outline what it is you are looking for and to help us determine whether and how I can help you. Then I will carry out a detailed assessment, either on the same day or at the next session, and from there we will agree goals together, from which I will devise a treatment plan.
A note about therapy contracts
Sometimes it is helpful for us both to agree and sign a contract, to cover what we expect from each other and to have a record of how we organise ourselves - contact details, treatment times, cancellations, fees and so on. I will usually suggest signing a contract after the initial interview, or sometimes after the detailed assessment.
